Terms of Service

This is the same text as in the Vital app, under Settings.

1. The Service

Vital is a mobile application providing nutrition logging, workout tracking, screen time management, and an AI coaching feature (together, the "Service"). You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. Vital is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice; talk to a doctor before making significant changes to your diet or exercise routine, especially if you have a medical condition.

2. Subscriptions

Vital has a free core and an optional paid Premium subscription that unlocks extra features. Premium is offered as a yearly or a monthly plan, and some plans include a free trial. The price, the trial length and the date billing starts are shown on the purchase screen before you subscribe, and those are the terms that apply. Premium is billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Payment is charged to your account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a paid subscription. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play account settings; Vital cannot process cancellations or refunds directly, since Apple and Google hold that relationship and your payment details. If you invite a friend with your invite code, you and your friend each get 30 days of Premium after the friend finishes their first week in the app or subscribes. One person can earn at most five invite rewards a year. Free days have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and we may refuse or remove them if we find abuse, such as inviting yourself or creating accounts to collect rewards.

3. The AI Coach

The AI Coach is optional. To use it, you connect your own account with an AI service (Google, OpenRouter, Anthropic or OpenAI) by entering that service’s API key. Your key stays on your device. When you ask the AI Coach something, your device sends your question, the recent messages in that chat, the Coach’s instructions and only the parts of your log you choose to share directly to that service; Vital’s servers never receive your key or your AI Coach chats. Your use of the AI service is governed by its own terms and privacy policy, including its own age requirements (Google, for example, requires users of its API to be 18 or older), and any charges for it are between you and that service. Vital does not charge for AI use. The AI Coach cannot change your targets, plans or logs; it can only suggest changes, which you make yourself. Its answers are generated automatically, can be wrong, and are not medical advice; use your own judgment and talk to a qualified professional about medical questions.

4. Your Account

You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

5. Acceptable Use

Don’t use Vital to violate the law, infringe anyone’s rights, reverse-engineer the app, or interfere with the Service’s normal operation.

6. Termination

You can stop using Vital and delete your account at any time from Settings. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

7. Disclaimer and Liability

The Service is provided "as is." To the extent permitted by law, Vital isn’t liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the Service changes. Continuing to use Vital after an update means you accept the revised terms.
