Vital / Roadmap

Roadmap

What ships first. What comes next. What comes after launch.

An honest order of things, with no dates that cannot be kept. Beta testing and store review decide when each step happens, and plans change. This page changes when they do.

Step 1

Now: the Android beta

Closed test on Google Play

A small group of testers uses Vital on real Android phones and tells us what breaks. Google also requires a closed test before an app from a new developer account can go public. Join the beta.

  • Food logging with a barcode scanner and a USDA-based food list
  • Recipes, a weekly meal plan and a shopping list
  • Workouts, personal records, plate calculator and the muscle map
  • Progress charts, a weekly recap and check-in, badges
  • Screen time that you enter, plus focus timers
  • Themes, Home layouts, export and delete in the app

Step 2

First public release

Google Play, Android only

The same app, after the beta fixes, on Google Play. The core app is free. Premium is an optional plan billed by Google Play, and it includes connecting Claude or ChatGPT to your own log.

The first release is also defined by what it leaves out, so nobody is surprised.

  • No built-in AI. Your own AI key, or Claude or ChatGPT connected with a token, are the only AI paths.
  • No photo logging.
  • No Health Connect, Apple Health or watch sync.
  • No iPhone version.

Step 3

Next, in rough order

Planned, not promised

An iPhone version

Android comes first. iPhone follows, with no date. Tick "I use an iPhone" on a sign-up form to hear when it is ready.

Share your week

Turn your weekly recap and your badges into a card you can share, with a small Vital mark. Sharing would always be your choice.

Claude on the web, and ChatGPT apps

Today the connection works with Claude Desktop and Claude Code, and with a ChatGPT custom GPT. The web and phone apps need a hosted connector and a sign-in method they accept. What works today.

Health Connect and Apple Health

Optional sync for weight, steps and workouts. Vital does not read any health platform or watch today.

The order can change with what testers and early users ask for most.

After launch

Hosted Vital AI

Not in the first release

A coach you can chat with inside Vital, without bringing your own key. It is planned after the first release, as part of Premium, with a daily message limit. Work on it has started, and nothing in the app sends your data to a Vital AI today.

  • Off until you turn it on. It is never required. The rule-based quick answers, your own AI key and a connected Claude or ChatGPT keep working without it.
  • You choose what it sees. The coach would only get the parts of your log you switch on, as the own-key coach already does.
  • Safety first. As designed, a message about self-harm, an eating disorder, pregnancy, medication or a medical emergency gets a fixed, supportive reply with resources instead of a model's guess.
  • Photo logging would come with it: a photo becomes a draft entry that you check and edit, never one that logs itself.

Not decided yet: who can use it, the daily limit, and the price. Nothing here is a promise until it ships.

Not planned

  • Automatic screen time tracking in the first release. It needs native phone features that are not built. Entering your total stays, and the app says so.
  • A social feed or a friends list.
  • More streaks and reward screens. The badges are enough.
  • An AI you cannot switch off. Every AI feature stays opt-in.

How the order is decided

By what stops people using the app first, then what helps them keep using it, then everything else. Tell us what you would put first: support@vitalmacro.com, or use Send feedback inside the app.
